Newb near the Mason Dixon
« on: February 15, 2011, 12:37:30 PM »
Hi there. 26 year old newb to 2 wheels in Hagerstown MD, with my first bike here being a 1976 cb550(4). Little bit cafe'd out from previous owner. Hoping I will get some info and find some places to do work for me around my area. Following learning to ride it (har har), I would like to do some performance work to it (plan on changing out the tank and seat too soon for some looks).

I am a web designer/developer by trade. I do some vector art for fun and profit, I like to do Ed Roth lookin' stuff. I dabble with airbrush and pinstriping. I make pretty awesome Halloween costumes. I am a DIY'er/maker of sorts. I dig the whole 'billy thing. I love a good rum and coke. I dig camping. I have a multitude of hobbies from drag racing (83 El Camino) to electronics to all sorts of art to card magic and guitar etc. Jack of many trades. A3

Anyone else around me? (I put myself on the map)

Hey now. Welcome.  Is your 550 a K model or an F? If its an f model that seat is brownish and desirable to someone around here. Lets see a picture of the El Camino... and the 550!!!

So, the strategy is to lie to people you are asking for help?

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

Good luck!

its pretty banged up. but I guess it looks ok.

I do not know if it is a K or an F and do not really know the difference or how to identify it.

Any suggestions for what to replace the front forks with? (After I get the new problem of the bike not staying running fixed...)

Nice looking ride. If you like to ride the site's Rally Around the World which will be going through MD.

Go to our thread, there are some MD riders in there. You can be a part of the routing and also you may find someone near you that can give you some maintenance tiips. I am expecting it will reach our region around June.
