I'm Stuck . . . Turn Signal Relay Connections?
« on: March 30, 2011, 10:17:04 AM »
I searched the forum last night to no avail.  I disconnected the turn signal relay on my '78 CB750K before taking a photo, and now I can't recall how the black and gray wires connect to it.  Does the black connect to the long side of the relay, or vice versa?  Thanks!

It does not matter.

So the black (power) wire just passes juice to the gray wire that then goes to the LH switch?  I don't want to screw this up, as I can't seem to find 142 relays anywhere.

It does not matter.

It doesn't make any difference which wire goes on which connector of a thermal flasher like the one you have pictured.  It works either way.  That said, if you have a green wire hanging down there, it will go unused.

You are correct on your wire colors the relay does not know the difference. IT does not matter. just do not hook up the green wire if you have one hanging close by.

I googled what X and L mean when stamped on flashers.  Found out X is "power" (black), L is "load" (gray), so that's how I've hooked them up.

That's good to know but it will work both ways also if you are on the road and it craps out most any electronic flasher will work and they don't slow flash when idle which it should not do anyway. the thermal like you have if it flashes slow at traffic lights tell you battery is low or maybe charging system is not up to snuff or you have poor connections.idle to low

Bollingball, that's super cool!  I didn't know it could provide that much insight into the health/tune of the bike. Thanks for the info.
