Works shocks on a 76CB750F
« on: March 30, 2011, 04:17:38 PM »
I have Works shocks on a 1976 Honda CB750F.  The bottom of the shocks that bolt to the swing arm have different offsets from one side compared to the other.  The right (pictured) has an offset to right with a spacer on one inside and the left shock is centered with a spacer on both insides per the picture below.  I also don't know how to orientate the spacers on the top frame side. Is this right? No instructions from Works.

Looks like your spacer on the left side should be on the inside.
You have it on the inside on the right side.

call Works and ask them.  They're quite helpful and won't mind the question.

Nice shocks! What model did you get? Any clearance issues with the chain guard?

thanks

yeah call them, would think that the spacer is there to help clear the chain guard, and to keep the other one centered over the swing arm mount.

The one with the offset should probably go on the drive side to space the shock out away from the chain.  Then space the top mount accordingly so the shocks are straight up and down.

Thanks guys. Works emailed the instructions. Yes, the offset goes on the drive side to clear the chain.  Top spacers go to the inside.  These are 13" Dual Rate Spring, Steel Trackers with ARS.

These were new 14.25" shocks for 79-82F/K on eBay direct from Works. They shortened to 13" for just the price of shipping.  $450.

Thanks Cobra for the info. Good deal on the shocks! So basically you can have 13` shocks or 14.5` shocks? Very cool...

Ill be curious to know how they perform when you get that first ride in...
