is there a rev limiter available for these old sohc's?

Yep - it is wired into the rider and runs from the brain down the right arm to the hand. However, it is not automatic and occasionally responds too late.

The Dyna 2000 ignition has a built in rev limiter.

On the 2000 it should be programmable along with the advance curves.

On the D2K there is an external adjustment for the rev limit....between 9 & 16K in 500rpm increments..

They generally work off the coil circuit so they aren't mechanical. Here's one that works with points, it is used on cars but will work with ANY 4 cylinder engine....

I put a Petronics kit on a '67 Comet (low mile beauty) 2V 289. Normally, these engines wanted plugs & points every 10,000 miles. I ran it 40,000 trouble-free miles. Pulled the spark plugs and they still looked new. It never missed a beat. Great product!
