Hello folks,
I am super new to these honda bikes, and I've never attempted a restore/rebuild. A 1978 cb125s has recently come into my possession and its definitely a fixer. I feel like I want to undertake it, for the learning experience alone, but I'm not really sure where to start.
I've tried a lot of google search, and a lot of ebay search for parts but I cant find much as far as this year/model goes.
Some main things I've noticed right away on my bike are the Right-hand switch and throttle assembly are missing and will need to be replaced. The only used parts I can find dont match the year or are for cb550, cb750, newer years, etc.
Also my seat is missing - haven't had much luck finding a year/model match online as well.
I am located in southern California - orange county area - and I've called the only moto salvage yard i know of who doesnt carry any of this bike's parts.
I guess my first questions, if anyone would be so gracious are:
1) does anyone know of any other salvage yards in my area besides Parts Unlimited?
2) does anyone have a good source for these parts online that I can check out?
3) does anyone know of any year/model matches where these parts might work for my bike as well? (ie: 74 cb350 seat will work, 81 rh switch assembly will work, etc). AND/OR where can I research this type of info myself for future ?
4) does anyone care to share any good shop manuals that you may know of for this particular model ? can be online, pdf, etc.
I welcome any/all information that you'd care to send my way in general, like I said just looking to learn for the education and experience.
Thanks in advance to any helpers!
Mike
