Rear Shock Absorbers (Need help buying)
« on: March 31, 2011, 01:39:36 PM »
OK. I need some help. I need to replace my rear shock absorbers. They measure 12.5" eye to clevis. I would like to replace them with the same measurement or something slightly lower. I can't find the right part anywhere in the links from the FAQ page (except http://www.servicehonda.com/look-up-parts/03 and they aren't exactly cheap). Any thoughts on where one can purchase this item? (Parts N More has a nice 11.5" set for $80, but they are eye to eye. :( Not clevis). Thanks guys.

Correction. I found some here http://www.progressivesuspension.com/metric/12_13_14/index.html but again, I am not sure they are eye to clevis. The picture is eye to eye.

You didn't say what bike you have. I got the 12 series from progressive eye to clevis HD with chrome HD spring. I'm not a racer but carry a heavy pack win camping. Been real happy with them for two years now. Go to product search to find your bike don;t worry about the pic. You can pay big bucks for shocks depends how you ride and how deep your pockets are. I don't think I would cheep out to much expect to pay $200.

its a 77 CB550. Thanks! It says on the site that that 12 series ought to fit. Were the longer/shorter/same length as your stock shocks?

Progressive worked out good for me. Stay away from those chrome shorty shocks 11" on E-Bay and some vendors  I tried them and they were junk $79 out the window.
