These are great bikes to work on, plus the parts availability is unreal for a 30 year old bike.

The Comstars really transformed more than I imagined powdercoated satin black.  One other thing that turned out well was grinding off all of the sidecover tabs on the oil tank and going with a plain satin black finish instead of going crazy with buying old covers.  Plus it narrows the bike's width where my cafe seat is very narrow, so the oil tank doesn't stick out nearly as far as it does with a cover on top.  The other side I cut down one of the Maier covers and painted it the same, using velcro and one mount hole it snugs right up against the electronics.  No more cover headaches ......   ;)

This thing will be a blast to ride around with my Ace Cafe' leather jacket!

Looking good but I am afraid you will find the  oil tank will get a little hot after riding awhile, this is from experience.Dannie

Bike looks great !

I agree with the oil tank getting alittle warm.
I would say warm, not hot.
I ran without a sidecover on the oiltank for about a week.

It does look better without the cover though...

That's a good point, I never considered the tank heat from the oil ..... hmmmmmm ... maybe a good excuse for an oil cooler!  ::)

Longer lines = poor man's oil cooler  ;D
On my past racecars I did a remote oil filter, which allowed me to run extra oil due to the lines running to and from the oil filter itself. The longer the oil is not in the motor the better / cooler....
