What's this? Was on
« on: April 01, 2011, 08:04:27 AM »
This was on the lower rear motor mount/foot peg mounting bolt assembly. When I went to re-mount the motor last night I couldn't figure out specifically where it goes or what it's supposed to do. No pics of it from when I took it off, and it's not shown on the parts diagram. Any idea? '76 750F

If it's worth doing, it's worth doing twice.

This is the rear brake light trigger/switch bracket. When the brake pedal is depressed, a spring attached to it pulls down on the switch and lights the brake light. This bracket holds the switch.

Yup. It mounts to the lower frame side bolt on the engine mount bracket that connects the upper rear engine mount. The part with the slot is where the brake switch mounts and when you bolt it on that part is on the top.

In the diagram it's shown down but on my 76F it was on the top... Maybe down if mounted on the upper bolt?

=1  cobra & Simon. Not 100% sure on the 76 but on a 78 the battery ground wire also hooks up to that bracket on the solid hole for the motor mount bolt.
