new to board new to motorcycles
« on: May 01, 2005, 12:01:45 AM »
I am thinking of buying my buddies '71 cb750 for $350.00 . He burnt the harness up in the thing he says by hooking the battery up backwards. I work on cars so the prospect of replacing a harness does'nt seem outside my abilities.
My questions are am I looking at replacing more than the harness to get this bike running, are parts available for this motorcycle,
Is this a good price for a motorcycle that did run before the meltdown and is in good overall condition
and would the 750 typicaly be considered a reliable ride if I do my part.
Any input would be appreciated.

Generally reliable.

Pretty good price.

www. Cmsnl.com has complete new harness's.

Go for it.

I live in the UK but I'd buy a dozen if I could get them at that price. You guys in the States don't know how lucky you are. I think that that bike even with a burnt harness would cost about $1000 over here.

Should I account for anything else in the electrical system needing replacment?

By the sounds of it MrB, a new battery wouldn't go astray. Say what?  ;D
