Insignia home theater recvr help
« on: April 02, 2011, 06:47:49 PM »
Ill take advantage of the open forum for a moment for sum home audio assistance. I was recently given a freebie insignia ns-r5101 receiver. I replaced a faulty stand by board, but still have no front display. The original problem was the stand by issue, and I assumed in full stand by, I wouldnt have a display. No that stand by is fixed, still no display. A couple forums say to do a 'hard reset', but I couldnt find anything model # specific.

Im already 20 bux in the red on this free unit, and given the brand of it I probably wont put much more into it. But I think it deserves trying one of these master resets if someone could tell me how or could recommend theyre favorite home audio repair forum b4 I junk this thing.

Thanx -  boats

The free part should have been the warning sign...

I found this, not sure if it will help any.  :-\

Reset the Insignia home theater receiver to its factory defaults if it continues to fail to function as expected. Turn it on and, while holding down the "VCR/DVR" key, press the "On" button. "Clear" should appear on the display and the receiver should go into standby mode. Turn the receiver back on. Be aware that resetting will cause you to loose any special settings you may have programmed into the device. But again, this will correct any problems

Thanx bob, Ill give that a try. Saw that fix on the net too but the receiver doesnt have a vcr/dvr button. Its probably on the remote but it didnt come with one. Think Ill try that combination with each of the buttons on the face of the panel then throw this thing up on the shelves for scrap if it aint workin. Ive got a question or two submitted to the insignia support gurus so Ill see. Thanx
