Help! I need new pistons for my rear disc caliper!
« on: April 10, 2006, 10:40:25 AM »
My bike is a 1976 Cb 750F.  I kept getting air in my rear brake system and could never bleed it out.  I've replaced all the seals in the caliper, and rebulit the master cylinder.  But, I noticed my pistons don't look that great.  In fact one is pitted so bad that I just determined it is where the leak is, even with new seals.  I had to pull the caliper off and remove the dust seal to finally see it.  Does anyone have suggestions for tracking one or two of these down?  They are discontinued through partsfish.

78 pounds!  With that unsprung weight, your tyre (tire) will go flat!  ;D Seriously though, if you can't buy them anywhere, take a sample to a local machine shop and see how much for stainless copies.  I had a spare caliper and made one new piston, but haven't installed the caliper yet.  Tolerances are critical on the O.D.
