New cb550 homie from Chicago
« on: March 11, 2011, 11:56:12 AM »
Hey all, my name's Steve, 20 years old, live near Chicago. I picked up this sexalicious '78 CB550k last fall for 500 bucks & I do beleive I scored quite the deal. Only been riding legally 2 years, and this is my first street-worthy bike (also have a p.o.s. 76 TL125 & a trashed 74 Suzuki GT250 I got for free). My heart lies with vintage Jap bikes, particularly 1970s, particularly Honda. My plan for the bike is basically to get it 100%, spray it (went to school for body & paint) & ride it every day. Love cafe bikes, but lack the money!
Just another dirtbag kid with a motorcycle & some dreams involving freedom. As you can probably tell, I kind of fail to take myself too seriously.
I'm semi-lost on a lot of things, so expect lots of dumb questions from this guy!
I look forward to bugging you all...
Now here's some pictures-

Yep.. that's a sexalicious bike.  Exactly the color scheme mine was originally.  Congrats on finding scoring one for 500 bucks, man.

I'm curious about that exhaust.. what is it?

Yeah, i nearly fainted when I found it for 500 bucks! New tires, clutch, seat cover, & some other things as well. Needs some dough put into it, but she's well worth it.
So far as I can tell, it's the stock exhaust with the original mufflers cut off & some generic ones pounded over the ends. There's a ton of hammer marks around the back edges :/

Wake up, look up, there's a warmth up there
a reminder of peace, a reason to care.

new to the forum here too from Chicago. Have a 1978 CB750 very nicely re-built by Jason at Motto Moto late last year. Psyched to be riding every day this year. Your bike looks fantastic, good luck with any future plans!
