Reading this is somewhat unsettling. How much is it to set your arm? maybe the forum could start a fund to help you out some.
Maybe part out your bike to also get you closer to cover your needs.
Is there no system in place to get the work done and pay for it monthly? for people that don't have insurance?
Maybe apply for a credit card and stick it all on that or apply for a low interest bank loan.
Just seems crazy/sad to go through the rest of your life with your arm all jacked.

That works down here too! Crossing the southern border that is, for free benefits, just not for citizens.

Whoa! Just came onto this one.  :o Sure glad it isn't any worse than it is. Hopefully, you can get things taken care of so you can get onto the mending process. Hellofan ordeal to go through , to change the look of the bike though. Seriously, hope that you DO get that arm sorted out soon though.  ;)

First off glad to hear your still with us and recovering! those are some crazy pics, i saw a similar story where a couple blasted through a brick garage wall here in Lincoln. Sadly they did not fair so well. i took my brothers CBR900 out last fall after ridding my CB500 all summer, those bikes have crazy acceleration... so much in fact that I think I'll be sticking to my old 500 for a while, i'm not feeling the need for speed these days  ::)

Very true, I've read somewhere that Lincolns Kawi plant was the first Japanese mc plant in the US. I drove past the plant the other day and there was a posse of Kawi riders hangin in the parking lot. do you think someone could work there and ride a Honda without chatching sh*! for it? anyway, dont mean to hijack here.... ride safe

I am out of surgery now and recovering.

First of all, let me thank you for the offers for the trip up north. Especially since there was a point where I was staring at my backpack in the middle of the night thinking "I might actually have to do this to get fixed" So thank you.

The whole thing has been interesting to say the least. To sum it so far, I got angry at the wall on the 2nd. Went to the ER and they took care of the stitches, put my finger back in place and they told me to follow up with an orthopedic specialists for my broken ulna. A couple days later I went to them and they told me you need surgery to fix it. As soon as possible. They went to schedule me for the surgery and told me it would be $6000. So at that point I was a little shocked but I figured that I could sell what I could to make a down payment then make payments on the rest. Not the best but I want use of my arm for the rest of my life, so be it. Then I was told it was going to be 12000, which I had to pay before they could schedule me. With the clock ticking. So far I had paid for everything out of pocket. It had been almost two weeks, I had only pain meds for the 3 days from the ER and I was pretty much ready to take you guys up on your offer up north. Called a couple more places and they were all around 15000-22000. So I had pretty much hit a brick wall (figuratively)

I then went to the County Hospital. They did another X-ray, told me I needed surgery ASAP. Then sent me to their ortho. person. Who told me pretty much they are going to do the surgery if I had the money or not. Take a guess how much they wanted for the same $12000 (from 3 other surgery centers) $2080. I still needed to come up with half of it up front but I scraped that together.

So that's pretty much were I stand now.

Before the surgery I did manage to pull the front end off the CBR. The frame and steering neck are alright so the bike will see the road again. Just need a front end, wheel, triples, radiator and some gauges.

Chris, can you drive? Want to be on the support crew from Tempe to NM and back on Sunday? Man, that would be a great help!! I'm fighting problems with my bike, and that would give me another day if you could help Shawn out with that leg of the relay.

Its been a little bit but I thought I would check in. I am mostly back to normal. My arm is about 80% back to normal, I may or may not get the last bit of it back. Also learned that I should get a job in a medical billing department because I could charge someone 900.00 for asking just their weight and age. Imagine that!  Besides that its back to normal. Got a radiator for the bike and now I just looking for a front end.

Huh, usually they are willing to set up a payment plan for stuff like this.
I guess the hospitals want their money up front these days.

Hah, I should have. I asked to see the actual X-rays so I could see what kind of screw they use. They are normal torque screws. So I guess if they ever start to loosen up and can tighten them back up at home! I get the chills just thinking about that, ouch.
