Darwin Award
« on: April 05, 2011, 10:03:05 PM »
A drunk on a snowmobile crashed into the garage door at a friends lake cabin a few weeks ago.  His three motorcycles stored inside were all damaged to some degree.  Mostly tail lights, blinkers and rear fenders.

I think two were against the door and one of these was pushed into the one that was parked in front as I remember how we packed everything in there.  Even a sailboat and lawnmower parked inside took some damage.  Things are packed pretty tight in there over the winter so it was just like dominos falling.

I don't think one gets the Darwin unless one is killed in the act of stupidity.  Might get honorable mention.

Riding Snowmobiles at 100mph across a frozen lake between beer gardens is one of life's great rewards...

That's why I asked if the guy either died or castrated himself. ;)

Also, if you've already procreated you're out of the running.

Well I know he did not kill himself but did take a header into the door and maybe the handlebars caught his nads as he went over the top.   Around here snowmobiles, thin ice, and alcohol are a wonderful device for weeding out the stupid.  Garage doors are not quite as deadly I guess. ;D

We had two snowmobiles when I was a kid and I survived.  At that time there was a real lack of trails so you rode anywhere you felt like it, nobody seemed to care.  Barbed wire in farm country where I grew up was the big danger and there were the occasional decapitations.  Now you seldom see snowmobiles in open country and they are mostly confined to lakes and the greatly expanded trail system so now alcohol and thin ice have replaced the fence wire.
