Dual Saddle seats???
« on: April 10, 2006, 05:57:12 PM »
Does anyone have pics of CB's with dual saddle seats? I'm thinking of doing something with saddles on my Cafe Racer project. I need to have some kind of reference so I know if it looks dumb or not.

Do you mean what used to be called KING&QUEEN seats?
If so, it  would look dumb on a cafe racer as they are really wide and rounded. dont have any good pictures, only one I have is rear 3/4 which doesnt show much.

They look a little goofy.  Here's mine as it came to me.  Wasn't attached right either.  I've gone back to the banana seat now.

What you might want to do with your seat is maintain that "Hump" on the back of the seat as a cushion. Take a look at some of the seats on Carpy's site.
That way you maintain the cafe racer look, and can still throw someone on the back to go for a ride and not damage anything (including their arse ;) )

No, not the king and queen seats. The actual single saddle buckets. they are pretty common on vespa's. Ussually they have a saddle seat and a buddy seat on the back.

I like Carpy's seats, but he's charging around $450 to make them now. I could make my own for next to nothing.

Vespa seat, that would be ....different Would work on a chopper style frame, not too sure about stock frame
got a story about a friend who wheelied one of those (Vespa or Lambretta, forget which), sitting on passenger seat. Big hoop for passenger to hold onto between seats. Front end slammed down he slid forward, almost ripped some (to him), important bits off
God, how we laughed (we were only about 14)

Im stepping away from the cafe look with my 74 350F and going with a mini-touring look. I fitted a gl seat that is like what you are talking about. I also have a trunk and bags and am looking for a fairing. I know it’s probably not what you’re going for but the seat does look good on the bike but it’s far too wide to call it a cafe anymore.
