JUMPS OUT OF GEAR

MY CB500E JUMPS FROM 3RD TO 2ND UNDER POWER... WHEN I BACK OFF IT SLIPS STRAIGHT BACK TO 3RD...ANY THOUGHTS APPRICIATED..HAVE HAD THIS BIKE FOR 30 YEARS AND STILL MY FAVOURITE RIDE

Bent/worn shift forks, probably.
Worn shifter drum, possibly.
You could look at the selector/detent behind the clutch pack.
After that, it's split the lower cases for a look see.

Whats a cb500e? never heard of one.
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Remember "Its always in the last place you look" COURSE IT IS YOU STOP LOOKIN THEN!

good one man,30 years of ownership!how many kays has it done?theres bound to be a fair amount of wear if the kays are high,as two tired said id be splitting the cases,im on the gold coast by the way,cheers mate.
