Lowering and spark,
« on: April 07, 2011, 11:15:25 AM »
Is lowering the fork tubes like this advisable?

I put 11 inch shocks to lower the rear.

I want to rat/bob this bike with very liitle mods. All and any help is very much appreciated.

I have no access to welders or anything of that kind. This build will be done with simple garage tools.

All work will be done by me, who has very little experience on bikes.
First things first, am trying to get spark to points and plugs.

Help~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~{iii}?
If it ain't raining, I'm riding.....~~{iii}?~~prost

If it sounds like I know what I'm talking about, it's because I cut and pasted from someone else.

it's fine to lower them that way.

just remember that you will have less travel on your forks and there for might bottom out on pot holes or bumps...but in that case your tire might hit the lower triple before. ;)

The forks are unaltered so he'll have the same amount of travel as before.  Bottoming won't be any worse, but the tire hitting things might be.  Also, the side and center stands will be too long.

As for the sparks, download the manual and go through the tune-up step by step.

Good luck,

More pics of what I have to work with.

This is typical of a 100 dollar bike.

Thanks for the comments, I did exactly as you said john, I did the download thing.

Thanks for compliment scottly.

I also noticed that the po, has the harness ground wire attached to the starter solenoid, and the starter wire to the frame,ha,ha.

Well, now to run wires to the switch and button. I at least, have the engine turning over with the button.
