Yes, it's true.  A company that relies on repeat business would never survive with a product line like this.  Unless you can keep adding a wide variety of new products.  And have available parts for sale.  Cause stuff happens.  Even repairable stuff might need parts every now and then.  Isn't that one of the reasons we love old Honda's?

Bingo!  There's nothing to say that consumers - especially the eco-conscious or thrift-oriented - wouldn't become enough of a market that this catches on. The company can still make plenty of money selling parts.

Corporations can't control each-others' behavior. They have to give the people what they want... and do we really want a bunch of disposable crap and a world that's jammed with the leftovers? I sure as hell don't. That's why I ride and fix my old bike, and that's why I'm going to be first in line for this if and when it becomes available.

Agreed. I dont like buying the same thing twice. If it did catch on, imagine how p*ssed off all the larger companies will be :)

This was really cool, thanks for posting. I kinda disagree that it couldn't sell well. Although you probably wont ever be buying it at walmart, younger generations of 20 somethings are all about vintage, local, sustainability, DIY and handmade. Look at websites like ETSY for example. For someone who cares about these things but weren't exactly raised to fix everything that broke, something like this might offer the perfect amount of DIY without being overly complicated. I'd buy one. But then I bought a 34 year old motorcycle that didnt run my first bike so....

I think this is an excellent idea. I like the concept and design. I would totally go for this.
Just because I can fix anything doesn't mean I always want it to be super difficult.
