I got to see Jim Davis, and hear him speak..at the Del mar Mile in 86.. he was  pretty well known on the boardtracks..
 and we got to see the Mile dirt track.. too bad the bikes were muffled..

There was a board track once near where my wife grew up. They still call it the racetrack subdivision. There is a construction company on a part of the former track now. They have dug through layers of straw and wood buried where the track was.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

That is an interesting article, thanks. Our local council's website has a couple of photos from a 1923 sprint that was held locally, I do like the atmosphere of them.
