Rough running under load condition.
« on: April 11, 2006, 12:54:35 PM »
Hey guys another quick one for yah.

I recently got my CB750k back up and running and she seems to be doing pretty good (new correct NGK plugs, plug caps and coils) I do have one problem though. She seems to miss lose power quite a bit under load.  I.E. coming up a steep hill.

Again this is my first bike and I have put maybe 70 miles on her since I've had her, mostly around hte block etc, with a longer 5 mile venture where I had to come up a fairly steep road about a mile, and she didn't seem to like that to much.

Thanks guys for any feedback on what to check.

Chris.

Cincycaddy,

What's the tune-up history on the bike? Have you done all the usual?

I don't have any history.  Only thing I've done is change the oil.  Where should I start as far as tuneup/maintence?

Well, I would invest in a manual of some sort, Clymers, Haynes, or better yet a reprint of the Honda Shop manual.. no, make it all three to be safe.  ;) The tune-up procedures are all outlined. Do each and every. At least then you will have a solid base to sort out whatever. Without first doing the prescribed tune-up items, you could end up chasing your tail.

Well egg on my face, she was just damn near out of gas.  Explains the lack of power under load I think, as coming up a hill, there would be a loss of fuel, I dunno.

Anyway took some fine sandpaper to the points, put a full tank in, and I was able to put 70 miles on her today and she ran absolutely great.

Thanks guys.

Chris.
