Topic: Looking for newer bike, recommendations appreciated.

Though I love my CB750F, I'm looking to get a newer bike that I can ride while I tear the CB down and rebuild it, as well as keep when the 750's done. I'd like to find a modern bike that is similar to that era of styling, but I know that is hard to find today. I looked at the MG v7 Classic, and the Triumph Bonneville and Thruxtor, but with little power, and not comfortable for someone who's 6' and 210lbs, those aren't really options. Is there anything else on the market that is similar to that era of styling? I have been thinking about the new Shadow RS, and maybe stripping it down a bit, for that's the closest bike I can find, aside from the awesome CB1100F that won't make it stateside. My dad does have some connections at Honda, but getting a CB1100F would be very difficult, even though that is the bike that I definitely want.

I'd appreciate any recommendations.

Look at a Suzuki Bandit.  Has an engine that is a  close relative to the GIXXER engines.  I like my 86 GIXXER, but the Bandit has similar seating as a Honda 750.  Look a the SV650s and some of the Kawi twins and 4s

I think the MG or Triumph options are your best bet if you are seeking modern reliability / safety with vintage styling. I'm surprised you found them to be underpowered and uncomfortable. I'm similar to you in size and I have two 350's as my daily drivers. Of course, most of my riding is shorter inner-city distances - not touring or highway riding. Royal Enfield makes a cool looking military bike but it's even less cc's (500?) than the MG or Triumph.

I should have rephrased that. They might not be underpowered, but they aren't as powerful as what I'm used to.

Any thoughts on the Ducati Sport Classic?

I am 6`4, 200 lbs - VStrom DL1000 is a good fit. Still ride the K4 and K2 as well though

There are a bazzillion Ningas out there and of all sizes. Parts will be plentiful and cheap in the near future. many models were relatively unchanged for 20 years.

Think about it if you work on it.
