Before I had built the confidence to tackle things on my own Dreyer Honda referred me to a shop they trusted to work on bikes to old for them to work on, can't remember the name, the price was over my budget at the time. A place to start might be a trip to Cycle-Re-Cycle II off of 10th St. The owner knows his stuff. If you go there, be patient as he's usually busy (especially if you go on Saturday). The owner (Rob) is straight to the point and doesn't screw around. He'll sell you the parts you need with a does of history & suggestions on the house. I would check there before hitting eBay or any other part place online if you're looking for something for your SOHC. His prices are very reasonable and easily beat online auctions. Anyway, he might have a few recommendations for a shop in town that'll fix you're bike for a fair price.

Hey Matt......so that 550 is almost road-ready, eh?  Glad to hear it!

Regarding bike shops....there was a guy who organized a retro ride a couple of summers ago....put a call out on Craigslist for interest and had a meet up in Noblesville.  Happened once and then died out for whatever reason.  Anyway, I looked back in my e-mail to find the info because the initial meeting place was a bike shop in Carmel.  Here's the info I had on my e-mail.....not sure if it still exists, but I met this Todd guy at the event and talked to him a little bit....know nothing more about him or his shop (if there still is one)...but it's something to check out maybe?  Right in town for you....

Get that thing road worthy and let's ride.  I think I told you before that I work in Westfield and one of my coworkers also has an old Honda 4 (CB500).

Good luck.

Sorry to hear that.  Hey there was a 550 engine on Indy Craigslist back in February and last I checked it was still listed.  Actually, I e-mailed the guy about it just to have a spare, but never heard back.  You might look the ad up as I think there was a phone number on the listing as well.  May be gone by now.

Let me know when you are ready to ride.   :)
