Turn signal buzzer... Annoying? (another oddity added)
« on: April 10, 2011, 05:57:58 PM »
Got the electrics hooked up on my 550 project today.  I thought the turn signal buzzer was designed to make noise after you forgot to turn the signals off or something.  No?  Mine started buzzing right away when I turned the switch.  I don't think I'm going to be able to put up with that very long...

Open up the headlight shell, and disconnect the brown/blue wire.

On my 76 CB750 I have that crazy buzzer too, but I learned to push the switch where it doesn't lock in place, but just enough to start the blinkers. if you do that it want activate that annoying buzzer ;D

My 73 has a button on the l/h switch that cancels the sound,  haven't seen it on any other 750's that I've come across in the past 3 years...Larry

I wondered about that annoying sound too and was self-conscious about it for awhile. But it is a safety feature and after some time you get past the self-conscious part and realize "yeah, it's a safety feature." I use mine shamelessly.

I hooked mine up after reading about it and discovering the PO had disconnected it. I thought it was broken but after plugging in the wires in the headlight bucket I quickly realized why the PO had disconnected it in the first place. It's pretty loud and I just double check the idiot lights when I'm out and about. I'm a;; about safty as well but I don't need my bike to yell at me about the blinkers... ;)

For me, the buzzer is less annoying than leaving the blinkers on for miles and miles.

And for pities' sake, if you think loud pipes save lives, the buzzer has got to save even more.

I thought you old guys were required to have your left blinkers on at all times. ;)

I'm thinking about using mine to come on when the oil pressure light comes on.  That way it'll do something useful for a change!

Gordon I am an old guy and I need my buzzer.  I often go miles thinking to myself that I keep hearing an annoying buzzer.  Also my 650 signals are hooked up backwards so I am often confused about which way to turn.  My 650 has no buzzer my 550 does.

I also noticed that my front turn signals light up when I turn the headlight on.  Is that normal?  Didn't think to look at the rear...  ???

The one in my car needs a louder one. I have been cruising senior style the past year.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

The buzzer was one of the first things yanked out of my 550...  of course I don't have turn signals on it anymore ::)

I do like Steve's idea though!

I like the buzzer. It says, "you left the turn sig on, you dummy".

I ride a lot with a friend. His super nice '04 1100 Shadow has no buzzer. I've watched him ride 2 to 5 miles (where I couldn't pass him) with this turn sig's on. How soon we forget!
