Wisconsin CB 350f Spring Refresher
« on: April 11, 2011, 06:24:25 AM »
Hey all,

I've been a member of this site for awhile, and I'm finally getting back into SOHC 4s after about a 2 year break.  Quick background:  I'm 22, I live in Whitewater, WI, I'll be graduating from UW Whitewater soon, and this CB is my 40th motorcycle.  I re-did a '78 750k about 2 years ago, but never really had time to enjoy the bike.  I also have a 350 twin, and I'm curious to see where this bike will end up, in regards to handling and power.

Anyway, this bike sat in a garage for 20 years until it was offered to me as a non-runner, with a title.  It was parked due to a sticking front caliper, according to the PO (this was his first bike, he still rides).  Here's what little progress I've made so far:

The bike, before I did anything except bring it home:

Next to the '75 XS 650B I got from the same family:

The carbs:

Hanging out with my dad's Ducati project:

So, the plan so far is to rebuild the carbs (already have the kits), rebuild the front caliper, do a very thorough cleaning of the whole bike, new tires and tubes, chain and sprockets, and fork seals.  It already has spark, the turn signals work, brake light, headlight, starter, horn, etc., so wiring is squared away.  Even the tank is clean and rust free inside!  Wish me luck, I'm having fun so far.

Good luck! Looks like you have a good starting point. Jeff Stephens just rebuilt my CB350F. You are going to love it. Can't wait to see the progress.

Good find on the bike!  Looks to be in pretty decent shape.

I went to school down in WW and am friends with a few of the local bikers.  Going to be doing a small bike tour to the mississippi later this summer with some of them hopefully. I picked up a CB500 four last summer and started tearing into it this spring.  Hopin to have it up and running in time for that.

Thanks for the replies, guys.  I'm hoping to participate in the Slimy Crud run this spring, although I would need a running, titled bike first, heh.

I"m hoping to head down there too... Working on getting my Yamaha all buttoned up for it this week hopefully.  I'll keep an eye on your progress and see if you'll be making it!

Excellent!  I need this king of motivation, for sure.  Sadly, I can only really work on the bike on weekends, as I have a really busy school/work schedule.
