Wiring harness problem thanks to previous owner... cb500k1
« on: August 05, 2012, 07:42:07 PM »
Hello to you experienced electrical types.
Bike is a 1972 CB500k1.

See attached pic.

At the top of the starter solenoid, a red/white CLOTH wire is jumped with a red plastic wire. When I got the bike, there was electrical tape around this connection.

Also see the dangling green 90 degree connector? It has no mate.

And - something is supposed to clip in here.  What could it be?

thanks in advance!

I recently restored and sold a 77 cb750f, and am nearly finished with a (former basket case) cb750k5.  This is a place to share, learn and enjoy.  I am grateful to and for 99+% of this site's membership.

The clip is for the main fuse holder (plastic cylinder) with glass fuse.  As far as the green lead with the female spade connection I don't know.  My '73 500 has the same dangling connector.

Those two connected wires ought to be connected WITH A FUSE. As it is now if you have a problem you will melt everything!

The dangling green is the ground for flasher cans that hve 3 connectors as in most countries except the USA

Thanks Bryan!  I had a feeling that was the case.  What kind of idiot would solder two wires together to work around a fuse?

Is it a 30amp that is standard in that location?

15A. My tube fuse holder was in bad shape so I converted to blade style.
