I'll be taking lots of pics and vid and depending on what sort of internet connection i can get in my tent and using my mobile phone, I'll try and get some of the flavour of the week uploaded daily, save up and get over for next years races or even the Manx GP!

motocyconomad , one of the best kept secrets of the iom is that the manx gp is much better than the tt

I thought they are one and the same. Its difficult to keep up with the raceing like that to me thats the best

I'll try and have a good week on the Island but it's hard work looking at racing,so many bikes and beer all week...... I'm up for the challenge. I may go back for the MGP if I get a chance.

there are quite a few road races on the island , the pre TT at the end of may , the TT at the beginning of june , the post TT at the end of june , the southern 100 in mid july an the manx gp at the beginning of september . only the TT and the manx gp are held on the mountain course . in the old days the manx was for amateur riders and the TT was for professional riders . even now if you win the manx you cant enter again [ apart from the classic races ] and if you have raced at the TT you cant race at the manx [ again apart from the classic races ] there is even a newcomers race at the manx for riders that have never raced on the mountain circuit before . since the 70's this has changed quite allot and apart from about a dozen paid riders at the TT all the other riders at both events are amateurs

They relaxed the rule sthis year for ex-TT riders now Simon, you can ride the Manx if you haven't had a TT replica for so many years or something. Not sure of the exact rules but definitely allows so tasty old TT riders into the fold!

You can't beat the Manx GP though - only race you get to see the old classic bikes like our SOHCs and exotica like MV triples and Paton twins on full bore megaphones flat out. Pure biking pleasure, you should really get over one year motocyconomad.

I'll be there for practice week this year - Aug 22nd I think I'm off...can't wait!

Sounds to me like I need to go live out there for the six months or year to be able to get to see everything. Then I'll go back with a bike. Before I die I want to ride a lap at the Isle.

Great racing and sounds today at the pre TT and practice for the TT starts later afternoon at about 6.30 PM UK time once the BSB riders arrive on the island.

well a pretty easy win for mcGuinness in the first superbike race , i think it would have been alot different if bruce anstey's honda hadnt dropped a valve on the third lap , he must now be favorite for next fridays senior . guy martin broke down while in a safe second , Dunlop's pit stop went arse shaped . great second place for cameron donald , and a brilliant third for relative newcomer gary johnson .

paul shoesmith got into big trouble for that pit lane mess up !

No raciing today so I had an early morning walk down to the paddock not much was happeng until this nice 350/4 turned up in a van, it's Mad Sunday I think I'll sit it out in the pub!. Yesterdays sidecar race is on TV tonight.

the picture of it coming out of the van with the sun rays makes it look like a holy moment of motorcycles ...is it a Mike Hailwood bike or just made to look like it I wonder..... nice job thanks

For those outside of the UK you can still watch the ITV broadcast with this little program:

at the link above , just download the program and install. this program let's the BBC/ITV etc believe that you connect with an IP from the UK, and thus allows you to acces programms online.

simple instalation, no registration, nothing asked.

I haven't tried it myself because it only works on a pc and i'm on a mac right now, but i've heard it works so I thought I'd share.

(p.s. MODS: if this is in some way illegal or doesn't belong on these forums please remove my post. It's just a different ip adress, so no harm done IMO)
