915 ride video

Yesterday I picked up my next project.  I got a 1977 750K and 1973 750 K engine, both complete for $200.  The plan is to build a second high performance engine for my 1977 F2 (836) rather than starting a another bike. 

I am looking for opinions on different configurations for the build.  I am thinking about using my extra set of F2 cases with the 77K head and barrels. 

* Cycle X 915 pistons and sleeves
* undercut trans
* lighten/balanced crank with Super rods
* complete head work
    -stage 4 head port
    -CB750 5mm valve conversion kit (34mm intake/28mm exhaust valves, guides, seals, springs, and Ti retainers
* all new bearings and chains
* M3 racing cam chain tensioner
* lightened rockers
* Megacycle 125-75 cam
* All the machine work will be done by APE
* The head work will be done by JMR

I already have so much invested in the cb I figured I would just build a second engine with a bit more kick.  I want it to be a bit of a sleeper and get close to 100hp.

This will be done as funds become available so I can stay married. ;D  I got the K engine tore down last night and all looks good inside.

How about that 915 kit Ken has? The pistons and sleeves are very nice. The upper cases do not have to be bored either. You will make some nice power with that kit

Took your advice and ordered the kit today...  I will be gathering parts first then saving the $$ so I can send you my head.  Could you pm or email me what you would recommend for headwork with this kit and cam, including approximate cost?  That way I can start rat holing money away from my wife with a goal in mind.

TG, Ken @CycleX. Pistons are 67.5mm and 155 grams.

I've always liked the 900cc engines in these Hondas.
They're a good powerplant set up properly.
I can remember seeing some busted arse motors back in the '70s with 900 kits and they still had plenty of sting left in their tails.

67.5mm just a bit small for my application not a sohc but a kawasaki

Which leads me to ask:

Has nobody ever thought of using the 69mm / 15 mm pistons of the Kawasaki Wiseco 810c.c. kit in a 750? Should give a 950 or something....

I know Jay, the extra cc kind of scared me..  You will be getting all my machine work.  Undercut trans and racecrank. 

I am still up in the air on the differences between Super rods and Carillos?  Are the Carillos really worth the extra money over the super rods?  I know the Carrilos are super nice and lighter than the Super rods.  Can someone chime in on this?

Just remember.... You could have had a 1000ccs  ;D

MRieck, think you could forward me that pricelist also?  I am looking to go a similar route to what tweakin is doing.  I have a nice 836 F2 motor now but kind of want to build a better bottom end and go through another motor fully.  Have a spare F2 head sitting waiting for this project. 

My only concern is heat.  Bigger and bigger bores scare me on my air cooled motor in Texas.  My 836 has been running pretty darn warm as is, an 890 or 915 will just get warmer I'd anticipate.

Mandic, you hit the nail, getting rid of the excess heat is a major problem when youre going over 836cc. anybody have any suggestions? Bigger oil cooler is not enough.

Keep the air flowing by cutting out slow speed riding, do less slow speed riding, ride in colder climate, install another charging system and install a fan which ain't happening, and make sure your jetting is the best it can be. That's all folks. 
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

I have an 860cc engine with CB900 sleeves and Kawasaki Z750 (aircooled) 66mm pistons.
