cb550 rebuilding my 1st bike-this time much different
« on: April 14, 2011, 06:34:32 PM »
i've been working on this bike for about 2 years on and off. it was actually my first bike. when the engine blew and i got another 550 it turned into a parts bike. over time i began gathering extra parts, and decided to rebuild it. i should have been posting progress this whole time, but oh well. i've been riding it around for the last week, but there is still more i would like to do. i call this the "rough draft".

pretty much what i started with. at this point i had rebult the origianl forks. i found a cl125 tank that i really liked. i picked up a 16" rear wheel somewhere along the way.

spacer for front wheel

clean up the triple trees.

another mock up. i actually wanted to put struts on it at one point. brainstorming for a seat and rear fender/tail light

loop tail of an xs650. perfect fit.

got these pipes from kingcustomcycles.com. pretty stoked to get them

MX pegs

seat and side covers came together. my buddy helped me with the seat AND all the wiring. we simplified everything with the help kingcustoms diagram.

this is where i'm at now with it. it's fun as hell to ride! still have a better set of carbs to rebuild for it. need a new chain and tires (knobbys?). paint?

do you have the little washers in your triple tree? they go in the gap in the clamp and look like a D. without them the top tree could cfrack
