Well, for some reason I can't get my pics to send to my photobucket account. I guess I'll have to use a real camera tomorrow. I've got a place to work on a bike though!

Hey hey hey, both hands on the keyboard Cliff! Congratulations on having some workspace Adam, it looks like you're just about ready to turn some spanners? I better see if I can find a bike for you to build! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

G'day Adam, Nice Greenhouse mate, well done. I'm almost at the stage where I can get the BMW back on the road, I've done lots of work to make it roadworthy again as it'll be my winter ride and I've re-joined the BMW Motorcycle Club of Victoria so I can get cheap club rego, so it'll be staying in my garage, but anyway, you need more of a challenge than just polishing a complete running bike, so I've got this K6 in a million bits mate, with your name on it. (well, actually it says "Honda", but you know what I mean...........)

Picture this: A bare (but freshly powdercoated) frame from Perth, an engine, (which I'll rebuild for you unless you're game to take that task on?) a complete OEM front end, (from the US) some wheels that will need a lot of cleaning/polishing/whatever, good gauges (from the US) good tank and sidecovers (but will need painting) and most of the other large bits necessary to build a motorcycle. There's also lots of little bits like new steering bearing set, swingarm bushes, electrical gubbins, lights, blinkers, etc etc.

If you get the rolling chassis back together again, I'll build you an engine, how does that sound? Cheers, Terry. ;D

+1. But considering his "shop", may be a good plan. And sounds like a win/win deal.

Terry, that sounds like a hell of a deal! I accept. I would like to help/oversee the engine work if you don't mind. If it would be too much trouble for me to get to your shop I understand. I can train/tram to wherever. I'm not sure how close you are to public transport? I really appreciate your kindness and can't wait to start wrenching/polishing! My greenhouse may make a pretty good spray booth, but there's a body shop down the road. I may just see how much it'll cost to have them paint it since I'd just be doing a rattle can job.

I have a job interview today at 10:30am! I really hope I get the job because it's less than 2k from my house. (fingers crossed)

Ha ha, well I like to think of it more of a motorcycle "sweat shop" where I trick poor American refugees into building bikes for me for free, but I guess the benefit for Adam is that once he's finished building it, he's got a cool bike to ride for the duration of his stay.

Adam, I'm busy this weekend and I'm away all next week working at two military bases in the country, but if you like I'll drop off a ute load of parts for you to play with next weekend? The only K6 engine I've got is the one in my "Rainbow Warrior" K1, but I wanted to pull it out and rebuild it anyway, so I'll return it to a good stock engine for you, ready to drop into your rolling chassis. (I need the hot rod parts for my next engine)

You're welcome to build any style of bike you want to, the only stipulation is that my bikes are "Hacksaw and Grinder Free Zones", i.e., you can't cut anything off them, the frame is an excellent stock K6 frame that I had blasted and powdercoated in gloss black and it looks better than new, so it needs nothing apart from having the new bearings that I'll supply fitted, and  everything bolted back into it.

I hope this doesn't dampen your enthusiasm mate, as I said you can pretty much do whatever else you like with it, so you can still let your creative juices flow, I'm sure that whatever you end up with will be pretty cool. Good luck with the job hunting! Cheers, Terry. ;D

That all sounds good to me, Terry. My wife likes to ride with me, so I'll have to put a two up seat on it. I'd like to build something crazy someday, but I plan on keeping it pretty much stock this time around. Don't worry about the frame, I don't like to chop up good parts. I think the most modifying I would do is maybe aftermarket turn signals, mirrors, and handlebars. These bikes are pretty damn cool the way they were made.

My wife was talking to a guy at her work the other day and said that he told her about some old retired guy he knows that has a shop just for antique bikes. Also said something about a club. I think I may get to go meet the club someday as a guest. I'm not sure if it's some antique bike club or what?

That sounds like a plan Adam. There are heaps of bike clubs here catering for all manner of motorcycle. I've just re-joined the BMW club, not just for the cheap "Club registration" that I want for my new R100RS, but for access to the collective expertise, specialist BMW tools and equipment, ride days, maintenance days, etc.

I've been meaning to join the "Ulysses" club too, it's a club catering specifically to old farts like me over 50, and when I can afford to retire it'll be a great social outlet with regular gatherings for likeminded souls. Good stuff. Cheers, Terry. ;D

I wouldn't touch Pud or his club with a 10 foot pole Mick, he's got a bad name for ripping people off, (ask PeterCB750 about his "engine builds") it's a pity, a dedicated CB750 club would be nice, if run by decent folks. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Yeah, I'm sure the other club members are fine Mick, but Pud's involvement puts me off joining. I met him years ago, long before he had his shop in Yarram, he lived in Frankston and was a stereo installer for "Gary's Car radio" back then. I bought some parts from him for a mate in the country and I had no problems with him personally, but there are so many blokes I know who have been ripped off by him since he started his shop that I'd rather just stay away. Oh, and he buys his parts online from the same places you and I do, so I don't know why he was "bemused", unless you outbid him, ha ha! Cheers, Terry. ;D

I'll remember to stay away from that club. Hopefully that's not the guy my wife heard about at work. Maybe someone from here should start a SOHC4 club. I guess it may be more work than anyone is wanting to put on themselves to actually run the club, but I don't know how things work here. I'm still trying to get the metric system down. ;D

I think its more to do with not paying him his prices and maybe saying in front of the other members he makes a living out of..?

Have a think about the VJMC. There are about 400 members in Victoria and of course many of them Honda people. There are about 800 members nationally and growing by around 30 per month.
I am the SA coordinator but if you're interested PM me and I'll give you a contact near you. You can also visit the website vjmc.org.au
The national rally is here in my home town next year so I am very busy getting all that organized. And it's an "open rally" so everyone is welcome to attend and/or enter. Perhaps some of you guys might want to come over for it? I could organize a sohc section perhaps? Details will be on the Vjmc site soon or again you could pm me or I could put some details up on here if there is enough interest.

Peter.
