1 '72 500
3 73-74 750's
500 sat behind a shed outdoors for 10+ yrs.
1 750 was on it's side in a field with a tree growing though it!
Amazing how these things clean up with a little elbow grease and tlc!
X= an unknown quantity
Spurt= a drip under pressure!

Had a 72 CB750K that had sat since 87

Currently have a 75  750K that was sitting since 92 -  now back on the road and is my everyday rider.

Also have another 75  750K that I just picked up...  motor is stuck, but it's only been soaking for 2 days.
The carbs look great, but will get a thorough cleaning, the motor shows no signs of pre-existing leaks or blown gaskets.  Don't think it's ever been apart.
Looks like hell, but I'll get it running.....eventually.   Tank is the perfect shade of rust  ;)  Believe it or not the inside of the tank looks new.

First bike was a 72/72 Suzuki GT750 cobbled together out of boxes of parts that I bought for $75

76  Kawasaki  KZ750  -  for a friend.

So....over the last decade or so, 5 rescues.

Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

(2)  76 CB750F1 that sat in storage for 25 years and a 75 XS650 that sat for 20.

Do I get any credit for keeping my 79 XS650 in good shape and running for the 32 years I have owned it. :D

My 750K5 ran when I bought it but I only rode it about 15 miles.
I discovered the engine case had been broken by a chain break and repaired with JB weld.

I tore the whole bike down and obtained a K4 engine for it with only ~6K miles on it that had sat for who know how many years.
Rebuilt the entire bike and now it's back on the road. :)
I've got unbroken cases to fix the original engine. Maybe next year I'll rebuild it.

Working on restoring a '79 XL250s now.  It ran when I got it, but also needed a restore.

I think it was said turning them into choppers was akin to killing them. :o
Taking them racing must be OK though because even Honda did it. ;D

Sam. ;)

Im not that judgmental...
I dont think making them choppers or bobbers, or personalized bikes is death. If someone swings their leg over it, its alive!
I was just being a smart a@@... meaning more, tried to fix and broke them worse, or wrecked etc...

1980 CB650 that sat on the side of the garage of the PO for like 4 years with sprinklers running on it all the time. I had to clean out all kinds of water damage.

As far as basket cases go it was a shiny one but in there wasn't one part of the bike I didn't have to do something to

Yeah, that's the way my K5 was.

I'll add my 77 550F to the list. Strictly speaking it was a runner, with bent frame, forks and pipes. I think the frame may have been stolen as it was from a K model.
It was ridden for a few years in the 90's then I decided to refurb, that's when things went wrong. It sat in various kitchens/sheds/garages while I was financially embarrassed, then I got some money and bought lots of new parts in 2002 or something. Then bad finances hit again. After reading this forum for around two years the enthusiasm you guys gave me got me to pull my finger out. I finally started my bike after at least 20 years this year.

'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.
