cb350f filter options (this is not a pod question)
« on: April 14, 2011, 08:23:13 am »
I have decided I will wait on pods until next year. The carbs have been rebuild and I dont want to have to take them off to rejet until winter now. So my question is, are there ANY aftermarket filter options to replace the stock air filter. I would like to drop in a K&N but they dont have one. If stock is my only option I guess that will have to do but I would rather buy an aftermarket and hopefully washable air filter element. I just HATE paper elements  :(

not that I know of, but i never looked really hard.
if K&N had a reuseable one, i'd be interested.

I just discovered that they (UNI) make one for the cb500. Am I correct in saying that the cb500, 400f and 350f use the exact same filter? If not, I am planning on just rebuilding my filter with the UNI foam that they sell. I just dont know which one to get, they have like 5 different types of the foam...

I don't believe they are the same.  I modified a UNI filter for a 550 for use in my 350F.  I have a thread here somewhere.  Search for "350F UNI filter mod" or something...

If You're okay with getting rid of the chamber where the air filter goes, I've seen pictures of a 350 with a big K&N filter attached to the back of the airbox. Also, I remember reading somewhere about modifying a stock air filter and gluing in the foam and mesh from another air filter.

Hi there, You can do what I have done and used for the past 15 years on my cb400f, I have removed the paper part of the air filter and used some filter foam, got it from my local motorcycle shop. it is great and from what I can tell it works better than my old paper element did, paper ones didn't do well on dirt road so I went with foam as I can clean it out and reuse it , I used copper wire to hold it on, just tight enough to keep it there
