73 cb500 4-into-2 exhaust mods
« on: April 15, 2011, 11:23:28 AM »
I like the looks of the 4-into-2 exhaust but can't find any I really like. I sort of want the look of Benji exhaust...with the upswept look...but can't  drop that kinda coin right now. I was thinking on modifying some Emgo Dunstall-replica reverse cone mufflers. Maybe get a muffler shop to help me with some 2 into 1 collectors for each side. But not knowing much about exhaust, I was wondering if this setup would give me enough volume? Can you push two cylinders worth of exhaust from a cb500 out of one of these mufflers? I'm also running pods on my carbs with larger mains. So what do you think guys, is this doable or too restrictive?

got good headers?

why not piece one together with (2) 2 into 1 collectors.  just measure teh OD of your headers.

Hey,  thanks for links. I wish they had pics. And I especially like the collector link. But I'm still wondering about volume. Would the muffler have to be twice as big as one header to allow proper exhausting since there would be two headpipes going into one muffler?
