Scored me a 750F frame :)
« on: April 12, 2006, 05:59:41 PM »
Hey All,
I'm really thinking hard on this one. The local yard has a couple 750F's there checking on another with a motor. This one they have a title for is a 75 I think. Frame seat pan and fender, front forks. $150.00 Or a little more for the one with the motor. They said they have a builder motor (black) for a couple hundred. I'm wanting this thing as naked as can be. I'm looking to not spend more than 800-1000 on this project. As long as I have a titled frame The rest is easy.
So it look's liike I'll be trading some parts  :) for my 750.

Make sure it isn't an F2 engine.

What's wrong with the F2 engine?  I thought they were better since they had hotter cams and put out more power stock?

The valve train is the problem. Excessive guide wear, valve stem tip damage, crappy retainer/keeper set up, new valves aren't available from Honda etc.

Ah.. I see.  Could one take an F2 engine and drop different heads on it, keeping the original cam?

Not quite that easy. It results in too much compression because of chamber volume differences. It's been discussed many times on the tech board.
