Oil leak from left cover on CB400f
« on: April 17, 2011, 06:41:13 AM »
Got back from a run on my CB400f today and oil is leaking from the alternator cover, where the wiring loom comes out, I assume it is from the crank oil seal, will strip it out tomorrow to confirm. Is it possible to change the seal with engine in the frame or does the crankcase have to be split? Anything else that could cause a leak in this area?

Had a look today, there is nothing from the crank seal, maybe a little dampness from the oil passage plug, the leak I saw is from the oil pressure light switch.

Thanks Steve, I've got a used one too will give it a try first. The failed one is leaking around plastic where the wire connector fits.
