CB750 K8 Engine Rebuild
« on: April 17, 2011, 05:47:21 PM »
Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum, but really enjoy what I see here so far.  I bought a CB750K8 that was intact but has a locked up engine.  I'm really wanting to turn this bike into a bobber with hardtail conversion, but I don't know where to begin with rebuilding the motor.  I bought the repair manual for this model, but it describes parts that I don't even know what they are talking about.  I'm not a mechanic, just have a love of motorcycles and dream one day of having some knowhow.  Im starting to consider having a shop rebuild the motor for me, but then again, I can't find a shop listed that rebuilds motorcycle engines.  Does anyone know what direction I need to go.   :) Eric

i as well had no idea what i was doing but read as many service manuals(download the manual package pd from here) look at peoples projects that they are doing engine rebuilds, tear it down slowly and check everything twice and then put it back together. take your block and head to a machine shop and have all that checked out people here are very knowledgeable and will be able to help you every step of the way

Where do you live ? Someone might be able to steer you towards a good machine shop in your area .
You can include your location in your profile if you choose .

You guys are beginning to convince me to do it myself.  I really do want to learn.  I'm in Oklahoma City.  Anyone know a good machine shop?

This is not a complicated engine to work on . If you have some mechanical aptitude and basic tools you should have no problems . The thread I linked to is a great source of info for anybody who is pulling apart a 750 engine for the first time .Lots of good people here to help you too .
