Parts will work.  Holders are the same(at least in the same year).  The camshaft won't be as performance oriented but that is only a minor difference.  My worry would be how yours failed and where the debris from the failure went.  I'd guarantee some found its way to the bottom end if it happened while riding.

Nah, just won a 76 f head with cam and holders for $25! (w/35 shipping) on ebay though. Hopefully she is decent.  I did however manage to fill the house with an awful type of smoke and snap off a head stud with about an inch left to try and remove it last night at 2am.  It will go to the shop today to let more reasonable people than I remove those things.

Good deal on the cam holders . The prices for those have gradually rising on ebay . Did you find the source of the blockage in the oil path to the head ?

Best I could tell some of the base gasket had started to break away and was circulating around potentially blocking things up. I say this because there was gasket material all around the bottom end and on the oil pump screen, although I did not find any in the jets. I did, however, notice a sludgy build up on the studs that oil circulates around to go up to the head. So, it may have been those things in conjunction or one of them alone. But yeah, the lesson learned here is that if I had not did a complete tear down I'd say there was a high probability of the same problem occurring. I do have to thank Ken at cyclex for convincing me to do that otherwise I was just gonna toss in some cheap used parts and see what happened.

Spent a few hours glass bead blasting today. Figured someone else might enjoy the sight of a freshly blasted motor like I do. Like five of those dang studs need to be heli-coiled. Driving to shop tomorrow for that. She should be rebuilt in a week so long as I don't-

A- Run out of money
B- Run into any unforseen problems
C- End up actually doing school work (it's finals week)
D- All of the above.
