750F vs 750K Gasket kit
« on: May 14, 2011, 06:46:52 AM »
Hello all,

I'm finally getting back to my head rebuild project on my 750F after spending 4 months overseas.  I noticed this morning that I have a top end gasket set for a 750k I think the package says '74 on it?  I didn't notice it before I left, and my research on here shows the head gaskets are different, but does anyone know if I can order a new head gasket and reuse the rest of the kit?

Thanks!

In case this helps, its a Vesrah kit VG556 kit. It also says that it covers up to '73

The sites I usually look for parts on (partsnmore / cyclex ) only list the one kit for sohc 750 fours . I can't think of any reason your kit won't work . O-rings differ on some models ( cam tower o-rings are smaller 69-72 ).

What year 750F?  The headgaskets are the same.  The difference only really lies in a few of the o-rings.  Mind you the difference can be a fairly big one and no one seems to make the replacement proper o-rings.  But those rings are at the base gasket, not head and only on the 77-78F.

'78 750F.  So as long as I watch the o-rings and just check everything against what's coming out I should be alright?  There was another post about the '77-78F's having a different head gasket so I'll check that one against what's on the bike and order a new one if I have to.  As long as everything else should work, I don't mind having to source a couple different parts.

I've gone through my 77 750F2 motor a couple times in the past few months(stupid reasons) but the head gaskets are just standard ones.  WEll standard the first time, then 2 different 836 ones, but no one ever asked "is the bike an F or K?" when it came to head gaskets.
