Cracked carb CB750F1, possibilities?
« on: April 11, 2011, 02:07:52 PM »
I'm rebuilding the carbs/tuning up because WOT would cut out, and generally the bike was sluggish.  It was difficult to hit speeds over 65.  After tearing the carbs apart for the rebuild, I discovered one of the jets housing/threads are cracked.  See below.

The jet itself threads beyond the crack, so I believe its not leaking, but I could be wrong.  Fixable?  Need a new carb?  Could cause the sluggish behavior?

Thanks

Somebody probably just put the jet holder assembly in to tight and hard.Did it feel super tight when removing. Those do not need to be overtightened That alloy is a little fragile. I had one like that that once that I patched with a product called Seal-All once. Maybe a little dressing of JB Weld might be a good idea around the cracks.Keep the stuff outa the threads.

JB weld won't hold up to gas long term.

You can get the body welded up.   PM big-jim
Or see:  http://www.jmfmicroweld.com/

Hey man, if your getting a new carb for that cylinder would you want to sell the bowl? I'm in dire need of a bowl after that silly little tube for overflow broke.
