What is holding up the front of the motor?

Very Cool looking bike.  You might wanna ask what it worth on the Hondachopper board.

If it runs and runs well I'd pay $2000

Considering the apparently excellent condition and uniqueness compared to most surviving choppers of that era I would look at getting it professionally appraised.
You may want to consider a professional auction rather than eBay.

Either way, you need to do some thorough research to determine a proper value.

Groovy!  Hate to say it, but it's probably worth more than than most of us would be willing to pay for it. Not much of a market for these cool choppers, I'd keep it if a decent offer price was not offered.

Good luck.

Looks like an ARD magneto.

Yeah, it's true the market is limited but if you find the right buyer.....
That's why I suggest contacting someone who knows something about the market.

The it is exactly what you said; it's a CUSTOM.  That being said, it is what your dad wanted it to be.  Somebody else might think it's a really cool bike, but they will want to change it and customize it to their own tastes.  99% of the time, this bike won't be as valuable to somebody else as it may be to you or your dad.  I'd keep it, but is you really want it gone then an appraisal is definitely the way to go.

with all due respect,,if its sentimental then its priceless!!either let it go if you dont want it,parts value/curiosity,,then again in twenty years a true classic era dont take the brown acid bike will be a collector item i think.

Less than 3K and it may take awhile to sell.  Those "groovy" chops still have a following but hippies weren't known for their cash flow. Check past auctions on eBay, it is an eye opener.

They might not have been back then, but they are today. The hippies got money now. If he finds the right person, 5k easy.

you should post over on hondachopper.com   LRT is one of the modirators and has been building choppers since the 70s, I would bet he has seen that bike before and would not be suprised if he knew your dad.   If it were my dads and now mine there is no way I would sell it!

I'd hold onto it for awhile due to the current economic conditions. I've seen some $28k choppers, less than 5 years old not able to bring $9k recently. I'd hate to see you regret your decision a few years from now when the market picks up.

LRT (Tommy Summers) is the man to talk to, he has built custom cb750's that have beaten custom hd's for years. He may be able to give you a better idea on value.

Frankly, this is a tough market to try and sell a a bike, especially heavily modified ones like yours. If you're looking for online boards to post it, I'd say try Chopcult classifieds. My sense, and I mean no disrespect, is that anything over $5K is good money in today's market.
This project started in confusion and will end in disarray.
