The Rune??? I never thought it was ugly. It was just unneccesarily LONG. I sat on one at the dealership. This thing was much bigger that it ever needed to be. Way too long and wide like a fat Wisconsin girls butt.  ;D

Harley-Davidson V-Rod.
I cant stand that bike, and pretty much 80% of the people that own them...

My brother owns a V-Rod.  Its nice, but damn uncomfortable.  You hit bumps on that bike and from your ass to the head you feel it in every inch of your spine.  Its got a decent amount of power but is really way overpriced as ALL HD's are.  Overall I like the styling but they should have done a much better job with the exhaust, its damn ugly and the routing of it forces you to have your right leg at the edge of the peg all day unless you like the feeling of your right calf been bbq'd all day.

I tried and tried to convice him not to get it but he had to have it, and is paying for it.

Bike also handles like snot, doesn't corner very well at all but is pretty fun stoplight to stoplight for the giggle factor, not up to modern 600cc fun, but its okay.

Rokon came to mind... Those old Kawi cruiser things from the 80's- 440 LTD or something? Ouch! And that Polaris prototype that looks like a buffalo ran into a bbq grill. Fuuugly

I like the looks of old Harleys and Indians, but I like the ride of the Indian much better.

I like the looks of the old Harleys and Indians. Compaed to the others from that era they were real lookers. The 1970s Rokon trail bikes were pretty crude looking, and the Suzuki rotary was no visual treat.

I agree with this.  When you get into the stats of the bike, it's nice, but what ruins it for me is how the tank and the frame sort of merge...the tank should have that round-ish look.

All those shows are staged. American Crapper, American Boyd Rod, Underhaulin'. All fall behind the clock, heads get heated, not going to make the deadline - oh wow we made it the (bike, car, chopper, hot rod) runs. Next week same sceneplay. Lame. And they just breeze over the real artisans on the shows. The old guy who just passed away that was on the Boyd ego trip - he could work sheetmetal like putty. The time he made two matching teardrop headlight buckets for some rod - phenominal mastery of tools.

Dunno about the ugliest bike, there's plenty of contenders, but I just loathe the underseat exhausts on modern sportsbikes. Yet they looked great on RG500s, or maybe they just sounded great.

And let me ask this- who the hell would want Mikey assembling their brakes, or even bolting wheels on, or basically spinning a single wrench their bike?

Yeah, ol' Arlen should be on the hit list of any sensible biker. It wouldn't be too far off the mark to argue that he started this whole RUB clown bike thing.

I always like to say that if it's got two wheels and a motor I'm into it, but I honestly can't stand the modern "custom chopper". Choppers can be pretty cool, IMO, but it seems to me that the ethic should be about how much stuff you can take OFF, not how much additional trash you can add on. And $10,000 custom paint jobs? Bad enough on any bike, IMO, but the pure antithesis of the orignal 50's chop mentality.

I frankly can't wait until the craze dies down and these guys go back to the cigar bar or the Hummer owner's club or wherever the hell they came from.  >:( :D

Yeah, I was driving my hummer back from the detailer and stopped by the bike builder and bummed a cigar from him.

Arlen Ness might of been around for awhile, but the latest bikes to come outta his shop are Fugly.
The guys at OCC make junk, but the general population keeps feeding their money making machine. I was at the local Honda dealer this weekend picking up some stuff and counted about 5 people wearing OCC hats/shirts/etc.. ::)

Good ol' Jesse James now worked out a deal with Huffy bikes (pedal bikes) to create a West Coast Chopper bike , to go "head-to-head" with the OCC beach cruiserfrom Schwinn. If people would stop buying OCC related products, theentire family will eventually fade away...

Wouldn't that be nice!  If I was financially able, If I was into that kind of bike and IF I
was to have them build me one, I'd be real concerned that senior and junior would get into a
big fuss and not assemble something properly or worse yet, let Mikey do it and I could end up
         with Crapp!

All I can say is forget it. To me that kind of bike is nothing but a bunch of parts put
together and an incredible price tag put on it. Give me an old Honda to build on and I'll be
        happier. Later on, Bill

These guys lost whatever substance they had many years ago. Its all smoke, mirrors and advertising hype now. And it can perpetuate itself. You can life off your name indefinitely now. And the OCC, JJ, and others are proof of it.

You got it. Now they are making shows about themselves. When, American Chopper 1st
started, I watched mainly to see what they were going to do and how they would do it. It didn't
take long until I got tired of all the fussing and #$%*ing. It soon became something I would check
every now and then until Mikey built a bike and then I see them basically training a young boy ( I
would not let a son of mine be with them! It's a crying shame that there isn't something (a show,
a magazine or something) to showcase bikes and procedures to building a bike or modifying one
that your average person could possibly identify with. Well, I feel the temperature arising, guess it's
time to back off, go out to the back yard and touch base with my bikes and get back to reality.

Lord knows I love Honda, but the early DOHCs were some ugly bikes, IMO.

And this fellow from Ebay took Honda's lead and ran with it.
