I left Stone Mountain, Georgia with Zilla around October 23 and rode the back roads to Cherokee, NC. I got on the BRP and had a gorgeous ride to Ashville where I pit stopped to visit a friend for a few hours. From there I rode the slab to Hickory NC to meet the rider, sorry I can't remember his name! We exchanged Z and went to our motel rooms for the night.
The next morning of my return trip to Atlanta began fine, I slabbed it back to Ashville and then hopped on the Parkway there. As I rode from there the weather took a turn for the #$%*ty, because damn, Hurricane Sandy's winds and cold rain had made it all the way to the parkway. My visibility began to diminish and my fingers and toes became numb, I made it to Brevard, NC before I had to abandon the parkway!
It was a longer and colder ride from there to Stone Mountain on the back roads, I must have drank a gallon of coffee and ate 10 apple pies from McDonalds just to keep myself warm enough! I even rode the dreaded 285, a ring of death highway that circles Atlanta, it was dark when I got on it and I swear I must have had angels watching out for me to get me home.
It was a great trip that I will always remember and I did it on points and not that crappy Dyna that stranded me so many times.
