Topic: 1975 CB550

I need a rebuild kit for my 1975 Honda CB550.  The person doing the work said it has McCooney (Don't know if I spelled it right) Carb. Also I need the outer boot on the back of the carb that goes to the aircleaner.  Can anyone help me and tell me where to go?

Mikuni carbs...there are four rubbers on the airbox side, two inner are different to the two outers (slightly angeld)and likewise for the outlet side.
You need to give a general location and also consider which if not all rubbers you need.
Strikes me as strange, the guy who's fixing your bike, is he a mechanic, because if he's familiar with Honda fours, he should know where to get these parts.
I imagine you are in the US so someone will be along soon to assist.

He worked on them years ago and said he didn't know where to get the parts. I will get all of the rubbers.

If they are, indeed, Mikuni's, they are NOT the stock carbs.  Keihins were put on by Honda at the factory and should be so marked on the left side of the carb bodies.
I've no idea if the stock boots fit onto the Mikuni's.  Measure the diameter of the inlets.  Stock Keihins measure 39mm.

Those rubbers cant be got seperate you have to buy the air cleaner box front half 17310-323-000B if its still available

Where can the rubber boots be bought? Tried to put pods on  my '78 550 but wouldn't idle so I'm stuck with the stock airbox. The only thing sealing the rubbers now is electrical tape. I need new ones but can't find them on the net. Can somebody give me a website or are they still available from the dealer?

Nope, TT's right, only Keihin's were installed stock, Model 022A for 1975 550K's & 069A's for the 1975 550F's.

This is one of several sites that have the parts fiche on them, just drill down to your bike and they have all of the parts shown on exploded diagrams with associated part numbers.  A word of caution, these parts are assuming stock stuff (Keihin's), so the parts will work on the Keihin carbs, but who knows about the Mikuni's? 

And pods typically lean out the mixture as they will flow more, so all other things aside (exhaust, etc) you will likely have to rejet.

I have a '78 and it has "pressed in" jets. I was told I couldn't rejet those. Anybody know?

If you want the jet holes larger, reamers can do that to what you have.

You can also replace the pressed jets with screw in types, with a bit of work.

Only the slow jets are pressed in.
