Turn key and nothing

I need some assistance. I have a 77 CB550f, when I turn the key to on nothing lights up and the starter doesnt work. No fuses have blown. I did put a fuse between the main and head fuse contector and that made everything light up even when the key was off but it also made the fuse extremely hot. Thanks

i suggest opening her up and seeing if the wires are all in good shape these old bikes and Po's like to do weird things..check all your bullet connections that they aren't corroded

Clean your battery terminals and starter solenoid terminals, then find your fuses, remove them and clean their ends, now clean up the fuse box terminals. :)

Did you check under the end cap inside the fuse to see if it melted there?

Check the fuse with an ohmmeter? Should be like 1 ohm or less. Fuse appearances can be deceiving. You might see the wire in the fuse looks ok but it is burnt open in the end cap. A resistance check is a sure way to know for sure. (I think that is what TT is saying) You got other good advice also I think.
