Dirt Riding the CB750..
« on: April 23, 2011, 10:26:36 PM »
Was at a party tonite and there was a small motocross track there, tight for little bikes.
Seeing as I still had universal tires I had to give it a go.. ;D

Wasnt too bad as long as you keep the back wheel on the ground on the whoop-de-dos.. suspension is seriously lacking.
Would have been a lot better if the track was a bit bigger, or the gearing was a lot lower..

The big whoops and holes were not too bad after I sraped the top edge down with the pipes and sidestand mount, then it got a bit better!

Anyone else riding their fours in the dirt??
I am thinking of riding it on the vintage flat track in July..

That frame and the weight will probably make for a pretty annoying flattracker. Sure , you'll have power... For all the good itll do you.

I've done some dirt road blasting...but the cb360 seriously worked a lot better...750?...kinda like the dukes of hazard or something on gravel...love that sideways feeling
If it works good, it looks good...

I would say more than likely that was the case. I don't drink anymore, but I know I would have to be totally sh-- faced to attempt something like that. The 750 is a great street bike, but no matter how you slice it or dice it drunk or sober a dirt bike I don't think so ;D

I call it the Maxi-Trail 750...

I did it before I had 2 many beers. I almost went down 2wice turning a Uie on a hill side to the left.. the second time i hung there about 5 to ten seconds throwing my weight to the right as it balanced.. and saved it! I shoulda maybe turned the bars to the left.
Roger G got some good pics, was trying to video but it came out as stills.

Its not about trying to beat modern bikes.. mare about having fun, running what you brung, and USING your bike..

I have ridden it around a hunderd and ten times this year.. even though it needs major suspension & swingarm work.. I am very used to that bike..  it was fun..

In the seventies my now departed buddy lived near there, and had an orange74 or 75 750, with cut-off stock pipes and universal tires that was plated and rode on the dirt a lot.. was thinking of him while riding yesterday

I did a grass hill climb on a 750 once. with a windjammer. and rack. and backrest. thank goodness it had crash bars too. Alke-haul may have been involved. a looong time ago.

Actually though back in the day I used to run one of my 750's a lot on old 2 track trail type back woods roads in game areas etc. to explore around.Really not that bad until you hit the sand pit type areas, throttle up and hold her straight.Alke-Haul and something else, cough, cough, may have been involved.  8)
