Mounting controls on new bars... keep the pin?
« on: April 14, 2006, 06:45:58 PM »
Greetings,

Got some drag bars put on my 350f today, and man do they make a world of difference in the looks department! I need to re-mount the controls, but don't know whether I should keep the locating pin that is on the bottom of the controls, which goes up into a small hole in the bars. I could drill some holes in the bars, but want the ability to be able to vary the bar angle somewhat if need be. Also, I'm thinking of running wiring outside the bars, so probably won't need to cut holes for that. So.. should I keep the little pin that sits in the bars to keep them from spinning? Has anybody gotten rid of it and had success without the controls wanting to rotate? Any other methods?? Oh yeah, and finally, does it make a difference that my bars aren't knurled in the center? If I crank down hard enough, should I worry about them rotating? Thanks in advance.

I just put drags on my 350f about a month ago. I lost the pins for adjustability and ran my wires outside the bars. Everything itghened up fine. If it doesn't, just wrap some electrical tape around the bars. My bars weren't knurled either, they tightened up fine. Hope you enjoy the bars, mine are ideal for me as far as riding position.

no need for the pin.  When I got my new controls I tossed it.  much easier and more flexibility for mounting the controls.  solid and the don't move
