  • Where's that box of parts??
Alright, just got the bike cranked for the first time in 15 years last Friday.  Upon getting it running and attempting to set the timing, I figured out 3 and 4 are only firing every other rotation.  I got another set of coils from a buddy and hooked them up.  The second I turned on the ignition, wires started smoking(from the ignition). I hooked up the old coils again and turned on the ignition. No smoking wires but still the same firing issue.  Is this a coil problem? boots?  spark plug wires?
Dang it!

if its 3 and 4 it shouldnt be the coils as 1-4 and 2-3 are the coil pairs it could be a coil problem but i would check for spark then fuel then compression.

Traced it to a bad connection in one of the coil leads. Running like a champ now!
