CR fairing question
« on: March 29, 2011, 11:13:47 AM »
Who has installed an Airtech CR750 fairing with the standard dynamo cover installed? It forces the left side of the fairing outwards and it developed a small crack during installation. I'd like to avoid cutting a hole for the cover and would like to know how others have dealt with this.

Thanks in advance- John

Together with someone else we bought 2 fairings from airtech.
Neither fitted like it should (even without engine) my mate fixed the problem by cutting and doing some refinishing.
Then they made a negative and pulled out a new one from that.
After that the alternator was not a real problem anymore but he uses a CR-style one.

I am still doubting on what to do with it, its a shame of the money.

That fairing was taken from an original I sent them back in 1996,and it requires the small CR kit "971" part number alternator cover. It will not fit without this smaller cover.  I take OEM cover and cut off and then weld on a round plate to cover end and tig weld, but that will not allow any kind of alternator.

You must cut hole in fairing just like first "kit" bikes had to have done.

Sorry for the bad news.

I'm going to keep the alternator, so cutting will be next.

One more question; should I add some tabs to secure the bottom of the fairing? I have installed the Airtech mounting kit and found no information in the notes provided on this site for additional frame tabs.
