Brake Bleeding Again...
« on: April 20, 2006, 06:01:38 PM »
I had to move my master cylinder farther up the handle bar today because the lever was hitting my bar end mirror.  After I did this the lever became very mushy.  I'm running all braided stainless lines.  Could it be that because my upper hose has more of a bend in it now that it may introduce a spongy feeling.  If I compressed the lever slowly I get a strong lever, but faster its gets spongy.  Master Cyl is from a 93 ZX7R Ninja.

Another possibility is that the cap has a very very very small leak (new one on order);its used...  Could this be introducing just enough air into the system to sometimes have a firm lever and other times alittle spongy.  I did put almost 80 miles on it today, maiden voyage with the master cyl and it only started acting up toward the end.  There is no fluid on any of my hose connections either.

Thanks

Try turning the bars in the direction that allows the tiny hole in the master to be at the highest point and try just slowly tickling the air out the top of the system through the master cylinder. Just barely pull the lever off the stop every few seconds and see if any bubbles appear.  Sounds like there is still some trapped air.
