Another Virago :-0
« on: April 26, 2011, 08:33:30 PM »
::) I know?  They keep making it to my garage for fixing.
This one belongs to the guy who built my rock walls last summer and helped me with my pond and waterfall ;)

1982 Yamaha virago XV 750.
Problems:
*Broken on/off handle bar switch.
*Needs new fork seals.
*Has some wiring issues.
*Has Starter issues. He says it goes clakity, clacky clack :o  Shim looks to be the answer, although I haven't done it before.
*Carbs are probably filthy.
*Oil leaks on side covers.
*Needs new tires
*Another 10 things I haven't found yet ;)

Bidding on the new switch on Ebay now.

 ;) Started.
Gave buddy some 400/600/800 wet sand and an aluminum part. I'm hoping he will see the value in cleaning some of this poo up.

If You can't fix it with a hammer, You've got an electrical problem.

Only problem with the Suzuki is that it makes the old Honda's feel a little slow.... ;)

Someone posted a very detailed thread on the Virago starter kit install recently. Anyone know where it is?
There was something about turning one of the gears around?

Still doing the 2 week mail wait for parts, but I did keep busy.
Disassembled the starter and started some serious metal/grease removal.

Another one out the door. Now if the guy would just come and pay for the work & parts I would be a happy camper ::)
