Old british footage - CB750 intro 1969
« on: May 02, 2005, 02:46:11 PM »

Here is some old British newsreel footage from the 1969 International Motorcycle Show - at the end of the clip a CB750 is seen suspended from the ceiling, with a casual remark to the effect that the Japanese also have a 750....sic transit gloria mundi,eh!?

Mind if I add this to the SOHC/4 website?  What a telling set of images - really makes clear the revolutionary advance that the CB750 represented.

Sure, fine by me, I'm not sure if there are any copyright issues but I think that in this case there should be no problem. A much higher resólution is available, but this costs $$$ as opposed to the version here, which is freely availble to anyone.

My Goodness!  I actually think I spotted myself in that film reel...  I was the guy behind the astronaut on the Vespa...

Great short film. Oh, if only Triumph and BSA 750s had better looking gas tanks, although the tanks are now "classic". The CB750 shown is actually a pre-production type, with production engine and side cover but with a prototype gas tank (higher Honda emblem and K1 chrome trim) and front disc unit with larger vented holes.
